I worked with a client whose father had a large property portfolio but could no longer make decisions for himself.
As the QCAT appointed Administrator for her father, my client needed to sell the properties. However, we discovered (amongst other complexities) that the properties were registered in another family member’s name and there were potentially very large transfer duty issues.
Several other lawyers had already tried – and failed – to deal with the transfer duty issue.
Given my estate administration experience, I was able to work through the issues efficiently to a successful conclusion. For me, there is no ‘too hard’ basket.
