Late one Friday night, I took an urgent call from a partner in another law firm.
He promptly set out the details of an ongoing dispute between a prominent co-director and company founder and his fellow directors and shareholders who were using ambush tactics to wind up the company and appoint a liquidator. Substantial issues had come to a head and the matter was due in Court early the following week – but the existing lawyer was now conflicted out and could no longer act.
Understandably, the client was frantic.
At this point, my team kicked into gear. I met the client that night, pulled a team together, and put in long hours over the weekend, ready to meet the other parties in Court.
Crucially, we also managed to lead commercial discussions that resulted in a more productive management structure for the business – avoiding liquidation, keeping a viable business operating and securing the livelihoods of many staff.
