WorkCover Fraud: A case study

On the advice of Mullins Lawyers, WorkCover Queensland referred a worker to the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) in relation to fraud offences.

The OIR decided to prosecute the worker, and the worker ultimately pleaded guilty in the Magistrates Court in Townsville to Fraud and Attempted Fraud offences. The worker was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment (wholly suspended for 30 months), and was ordered to pay restitution to WorkCover Queensland and the OIR.
